Motoharu Noguchi, Metawater, Japan

Motoharu NoguchiDr. Motoharu Noguchi received his Ph.D. degree in 1995 form Waseda University. In 1996, he joined NGK Insulators, Ltd. (now METAWATER Co., Ltd.), and continues to work in the Research and Development Division.

He has been working on various kinds of wastewater treatment systems for more than 20 years. From 2001, he has been researching the application of membrane to the treatment of wastewater. His research experience of membranes started with MF ceramic membrane for the separation of secondary effluent of domestic wastewater. In addition, he also did research of Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) by MF ceramic membranes and MF polymeric membranes.

Based on his work in the R&D Division, he has been working to develop a Water Reuse System based on two core METAWATER technologies: the Ceramic Membrane Filtration System and the Ozone Generation System as the collaboration project with Tokyo Metropolitan Government. This system is the first case in the world to be installed at the Shibaura Water Reclamation Center in Tokyo, Japan, and started operation in April, 2010 till now.
