Jürgen Caro is Professor for Physical Chemistry and Director of the Institute for Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany. He obtained his PhD at Leipzig University in the group of J. Kärger in 1977. Caro’s research fields are nanoporous materials in adsorption, catalysis and gas separation, as well as fuel cells and dye sensitized solar cells. During the last 10 years, he developed novel zeolite and metal organic framework molecular sieve membranes for gas separation. For his pioneering work in molecular sieve membranes he received in 2013 the Breck Award of the International Zeolite Association and the Ostwald Medal of the Saxonian Academy of Sciences.
